Rebecca is a Fine Art graduate from Loughborough University who works primarily with ceramics. She was awarded the Potclays Graduate Award and has worked with and for artists across the UK and Australia, gaining experience in both contemporary fine art and broader creative production.
Matthews' ceramic practice explores the tension between stability and change, emphasising the balance between permanence and transformation. Circular forms symbolise continuity and time, reflecting the evolving nature of the self. Through her choice of materials, Matthews invites reflection on the dynamic journey of personal identity, highlighting the fluidity and tension inherent in self-expression and the continuous unfolding of who we are.
